Mounting Prints

The fixing of a printing media to the top of another surface for framing or presentation purposes.
Nulab offers a wide range of substrate options for mounting your finished prints.

Craftwood

Craftwood is a composite timber board also known as MDF.
Low cost and is great for use in picture frames. Craftwood is available in 3 thicknesses.

• 3mm – available only in block mount
• 5mm – available only in block mount
• 10mm – available in either block or beveled edge and can be requested with a Black edge and a hanger if used as a final presentation.
  

Foam Core

A low cost, light weight substrate that is used when weight may be an issue. Foam Core consists of a foam centre with a smooth exterior surface. Great for framing under glass – foam core does not have the durability of gataboard. Available in either black or white.

Gataboard

A premium mounting substrate that consists of a high density foam centre with a smooth durable exterior surface. Gataboard is finished off with a smooth black vinyl edging, plus a hanger if requested. Available in either 10mm or 20mm.

Overlay/Lamination

Any protective substance that is added to the top of your printed image after printing.

Whether in sheet form (overlay) or liquid (lamination) – Overlays add extra protection from UV damage and handling. Please note that overlay options vary with type of work. All options are not available for every media.

Overlay Options for Photographic Prints

A thin protective sheet of UV inhibiting polymer that is available in three finishes.

Textured Overlay - Nulab’s Standard Overlay for photographic prints.
The texture of the overlay simulates the standard “E” surface of the paper. If no specific type of overlay is ordered – textured overlay is used. When selecting the “Overlay Only” option in the Nulab Digital Express – this surface is the default option.

Glossy Overlay - Available on sizes 40x60” and smaller.
Can be ordered as overlay only – but comes as “encapsulated” with laminate on front and back. The Glossy overlay only option must be added to the special instructions after “Laminate Only” is selected in the
mounting section of the Nulab Digital Express.

Matte Overlay - Available on sizes 40x60” and smaller.
Can be ordered as overlay only – but comes as a “encapsulated” with laminate on front and back. As with Glossy – Matte overlay only option must be added to the special instructions after “Laminate Only” is selected in the mounting section of the Nulab Digital Express.

Overlay Options for Canvas Prints

Several thin coats of a protective UV polymer in aerosol form are applied to the surface of your canvas print.

While sealing in the pigmented dyes, it also makes the surface more durable. Available is 3 finishes:

Glossy Overlay - Our standard overlay for canvas prints.

Lustre Overlay - Available upon request after selecting the “Overlay Option” and placing Lustre Overlay in the special instructions.

Matte Overlay - Available upon request after selecting the “Overlay Option” and placing Matte Overlay in the special instructions.
